Job Summary.

The Lead Data Engineer will play a crucial role in the Enterprise Data Management team, focusing on transforming data to enhance our services and deliver superior customer experiences. The successful candidate will lead data initiatives, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity, availability, and performance across our enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

Design, develop, and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to transform data from various sources into actionable insights.

Oversee the architecture and implementation of data storage solutions, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data needs and deliver solutions that drive business value.

Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and compliance.

Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices in data engineering and recommend innovative solutions to improve our data infrastructure.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Monitor and optimize data processing workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Provide leadership and guidance in adopting new data engineering tools and methodologies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in building and managing large-scale data pipelines and data warehousing solutions.

At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role, managing and mentoring data engineering teams.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.

Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and data architecture.

Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex data issues.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in the retail or home services industry.

Knowledge of machine learning and data analytics tools.

Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD in data engineering.
